Written and drawn over the course of November, 2013 as part of the 30-days-of-comics event started by Derik Badman in 2011, and my intermittent diary-like project, “mostly banal.”

4 days into the month, our cat Rufus passed suddenly. Our dog Chichi was diagnosed with liver failure and had to be put down halfway through. The project became a musing on death and remembering, and on record keeping.

I edited and reordered the pages over the following month, in a way that felt like a whole, so it flowed like memory. Thus “December remembers…”
